Maha Mumbai Metro has strengthened its monsoon preparedness by deploying additional standby trains across metro corridors in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). The initiative aims to ensure uninterrupted services as heavy rainfall intensifies across the region and commuter demand remains high during the rainy season.
According to the metro operator, reserve trains have been strategically stationed across the network and can be introduced into service at short notice whenever required. These additional train sets are expected to help manage rising passenger volumes, minimise overcrowding at stations, and maintain operational efficiency during adverse weather conditions.
Metro officials stated that the standby services will not be restricted to peak travel hours. Instead, the reserve trains can be deployed at any time based on real-time assessments of weather conditions, passenger footfall and operational requirements.
