Beed Sports Complex Gets Rs 24.95 Crore Cabinet Nod To Fast-Track Development

The Maharashtra Cabinet has approved a revised project cost of Rs 24.95 crore for the Beed District Sports Complex, giving a fresh push to the long-pending project aimed at creating international-standard sports infrastructure in the district. The decision was taken during the State Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday.

The project is intended to provide modern training facilities and world-class infrastructure for athletes from Beed, helping nurture sporting talent and improve access to advanced coaching and competitive facilities.

According to an official statement, the proposal had originally received administrative approval during the tenure of the then Deputy Chief Minister, the late Ajitdada Pawar. The statement added that Deputy Chief Minister, Sports Minister and Beed Guardian Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar consistently pursued the project, facilitating the necessary approvals and financial sanction required for its implementation.

Earlier, the state government had already released Rs 8 crore for the project. Subsequently, the Directorate of Sports and Youth Services submitted a revised project estimate of Rs 24.95 crore, which was approved as a special case by the High-Level Committee of Secretaries before being placed before the Cabinet for final approval.

In line with the Government Resolution issued on March 31, 2026, the state government has already released Rs 25 crore for the development of the sports complex.

Commenting on the project, Sunetra Pawar said the Maharashtra government remains committed to strengthening sports infrastructure across the state and providing young athletes in Beed with high-quality training facilities. She stated that continuous efforts were made to overcome administrative and procedural challenges to secure the Cabinet’s post-facto approval for the revised project estimate.

Pawar also expressed confidence that the Cabinet’s decision would accelerate the remaining construction work and help create modern sporting infrastructure capable of supporting athletes at the national and international levels.

Once completed, the Beed District Sports Complex is expected to enhance sports development in the region by offering upgraded facilities for training, competitions and athlete development, while creating opportunities for emerging talent from the district.
