Residents of Koparkhairane and nearby areas in Navi Mumbai are set to benefit from improved connectivity after the newly constructed Koparkhairane Connecting Link bridge was inaugurated. The bridge, which links Pawane Bridge to Sector-11, was inaugurated by Maharashtra Forest Minister Ganesh Naik and is expected to provide relief from daily traffic congestion in the area.
The new route will improve travel for residents of Koparkhairane Sector-11, Khairane village and Bonkode by offering a direct connection towards important destinations. It is also expected to reduce the traffic burden on the busy Vashi-Koparkhairane main road by providing an alternative route for commuters.
The newly developed link offers a faster travel option between Koparkhairane and the Turbhe APMC market. Commuters travelling from Sanpada and Turbhe APMC towards the Thane-Belapur Road or Koparkhairane will no longer need to take longer routes, helping save both travel time and fuel costs.
Speaking at the inauguration, Ganesh Naik highlighted the need for efficient transportation infrastructure in Navi Mumbai amid the city’s growing population. “Our main objective is to create an easy, safe and barrier-free transport system in the city considering the growing population of Navi Mumbai,” Naik said.
He further stated that the original CIDCO development plan did not include a direct road link between Koparkhairane, Bonkode and the APMC Market-Turbhe area. “Initially, CIDCO’s original plan did not include a direct road from Koparkhairane and Bonkode to APMC Market and Turbhe. However, due to the consistent follow-up of House Leader Sagar Naik and local corporator Munawar Patel, this ambitious project was finally completed,” Naik said.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Deputy Mayor Dashrath Bhagat, corporators Vaishnavi Naik, Aditi Naik, Amit Medhkar, former corporator Leeladhar Naik, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Executive Engineer Ajay Sankhe, along with officials and local residents.
The bridge measures 41 metres in length and 7.50 metres in width and has been constructed over a major drain between the road below the Pawneshwar flyover and the Sector-11 Koparkhairane Road.
The civic administration expects the new link to improve traffic management by strengthening connectivity between residential neighbourhoods and commercial areas across Navi Mumbai. The bridge is likely to play an important role in easing congestion on existing routes and improving daily mobility for commuters.
