The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has identified 33 buildings across the city as “extremely dangerous” under the C-1 category for the year 2026-27 and has instructed residents and occupants to vacate the structures immediately.
Through a public notice issued by the civic body’s Encroachment Department, the NMMC warned that continued occupation of these buildings could lead to disconnection of essential services, including electricity and water supply. The civic authority also clarified that it would not be responsible for any loss of life or property caused due to the collapse of these structures if residents continue to stay there.
The notice stated, “It is hereby notified to the owners/occupiers or others residing in the buildings listed in the attached list that written notices have been issued to you stating that the building you are residing in is dangerous for residential/commercial use.”
“The residential/commercial use in this building must be immediately stopped, and the construction of the dangerous building must be demolished without delay,” it added.
The civic body further warned, “If such action is not taken, you alone will be responsible for any damage caused by the collapse of the building/construction. Please note that the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation will not be responsible for this.”
The order, signed by NMMC Commissioner Kailas Shinde, was issued on August 1. The list includes buildings located across various administrative divisions, including Belapur, Nerul, Vashi, Turbhe, Koparkhairane, Airoli and Digha.
Among the structures identified are Shri Ganesh Cooperative Housing Society in Nerul, White House Cooperative Housing Society in Nerul East, Little Flower Cooperative Housing Society in Vashi, several societies in Turbhe and Sanpada, and multiple buildings in Koparkhairane.
The Turbhe division accounts for the highest number of buildings on the list, including residential societies, market structures and other constructions. Buildings such as Gagangiri Cooperative Housing Society, M. Chandralok Cooperative Housing Society and City Shine Cooperative Housing Society in Koparkhairane have also been classified as C-1 category structures.
The NMMC has advised residents of the listed buildings to shift to safer locations without delay. The civic body said further announcements regarding disconnection of essential services at these locations would be made separately.
