Vasai-Virar Roads Need Urgent Repairs: BP Leaders Hemant Savara, Rajan Naik

Vasai-Virar’s deteriorating road conditions have triggered a political protest, with BJP MP Dr Hemant Savara and Nalasopara MLA Rajan Naik taking to the streets to demand immediate repairs to pothole-ridden roads across the city.

Heavy rainfall in the region has worsened road conditions, leaving several stretches covered with potholes and making commuting increasingly difficult for motorists. The deteriorating surfaces have also raised concerns about road safety, particularly for two-wheeler riders and pedestrians.

The BJP organised a large-scale agitation on Sunday, alleging that the civic administration had failed to address damaged roads despite the worsening conditions. Savara and Naik participated in the protest and called for urgent action to restore roads affected by the monsoon.

The protesters alleged that authorities had failed to undertake timely repairs, allowing potholes to expand as continued rainfall further damaged road surfaces. They demanded that the administration prioritise road restoration and ensure that repair work is carried out promptly across affected areas.

The condition of roads has also drawn criticism from local residents, who said that poor civic infrastructure has added to their daily difficulties during the monsoon. According to residents, damaged roads not only slow down traffic but also increase the risk of accidents and vehicle damage.

The protest has brought renewed attention to the quality of road infrastructure in Vasai-Virar, where heavy monsoon showers regularly expose weaknesses in road surfaces and drainage systems.

Residents have also questioned why elected representatives have had to step onto the streets to highlight basic civic issues. They said the situation reflects the need for more consistent monitoring and preventive maintenance rather than waiting for roads to deteriorate before undertaking repairs.

The BJP has demanded immediate filling of potholes and restoration of damaged stretches, while calling on the administration to take measures to prevent similar deterioration during future monsoons.
