The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) inspected pedestrian infrastructure and footpaths in Prabhadevi and Chembur as part of its ‘Pedestrian First’ campaign.
Additional Municipal Commissioner (City) Prajakta Verma-Lavangare inspected Prabhadevi railway station, the proposed Foot Over Bridge (FOB) and surrounding areas. Discussions with officials covered the proposed FOB, station access points, traffic management and passenger safety.
Officials from the BMC, Western Railway, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (MRIDC) and Mumbai Traffic Police were present during the inspection.
Separately, Additional Municipal Commissioner (Eastern Suburbs) Dr Avinash Dhakne inspected areas in M West Ward from 7 am to 9.30 am. The inspection covered footpaths and surrounding areas near roads, schools and hospitals in Chembur Naka, Bhai Nagar, R C Marg, Basant Park, Sindhi Society and Charai Lake.
Dhakne directed officials to keep footpaths clean and free of encroachments and ensure that pedestrians can use them without obstruction.
