Marketing and Protocol Minister Jayakumar Rawal has directed officials to develop the proposed Nandagiri State Guest House in Vile Parle near Mumbai Airport with modern facilities, strong security and dedicated accommodation for drivers and security personnel to serve visiting dignitaries and transit guests.
The proposed design was reviewed at a meeting chaired by Rawal and attended by Protocol Department Secretary Dr Rajesh Gawande, Public Works Department Superintendent Engineer Hande and other officials. Architect Raja Adare presented the building plan, after which the minister reviewed the details and suggested modifications.
The planned guest house will be a six-storey building with four basement levels, featuring a reception and waiting area along with parking space for 42 vehicles. The facility is expected to have 39 guest rooms, including an executive suite and a presidential suite.
The first floor will house two conference rooms, a boardroom, a main kitchen and both general and private dining areas. Guest accommodation will be provided from the second through sixth floors.
Located close to Mumbai Airport, the guest house is intended to provide convenient accommodation for dignitaries travelling to the city from other states, as well as officials and other guests requiring a short stay during transit.
Rawal stressed that the project should prioritise privacy, safety and comfort, given the profile of its intended occupants. He also called for the building to make maximum use of natural light and ventilation.
The minister suggested that a gymnasium be provided on the rooftop and directed officials to ensure that the structure remains airy and receives adequate natural sunlight.
He further instructed that dedicated accommodation be created within the same premises for drivers and security personnel accompanying visiting dignitaries. According to Rawal, this arrangement would improve convenience while strengthening security and logistical coordination.
The minister also asked the concerned departments to finalise the design at the earliest and accelerate the subsequent construction process.
Once completed, the Nandagiri State Guest House is expected to provide a dedicated, secure and modern accommodation facility for state guests and dignitaries visiting Mumbai, particularly those requiring quick access to the airport.
