MSRDC Eyes Townships, Hotels & Commercial Hubs At Samruddhi Expressway Interchanges

Samruddhi Expressway

The 701-km Samruddhi Expressway could see new development around its 25 interchanges, with the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) exploring townships, hotels, theme parks and other commercial projects.

MSRDC plans to use GIS mapping to assess land use and development potential around the interchanges, which are located around 30–40 km apart. Urban planners and other experts will study local demand and suggest projects that are commercially viable.

The proposed developments include shopping complexes, agro-processing centres, resorts, wholesale markets, manufacturing units, IT parks, industrial estates, warehouses, educational institutions, healthcare facilities and transport hubs.

MSRDC, which is the Special Planning Authority for the Samruddhi corridor, has planning jurisdiction over nearly 1,800 sq km across 292 villages in 10 districts. The move is aimed at attracting private investment, creating jobs and generating additional revenue for future infrastructure projects.

The corporation is also seeking a consultant to prepare GIS-based development plans for the interchange influence areas.
