Maharashtra Attracts Rs 1.03 Lakh Crore In Clean Energy Investment Proposals

The Maharashtra government has secured 67 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with 65 companies, with proposed investments totalling Rs 8.57 lakh crore and the potential to generate around 2.91 lakh jobs across multiple sectors.

The agreements were signed in Mumbai in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis during the launch of the ‘Invest Maharashtra’ initiative, a platform aimed at strengthening investment promotion and facilitation across the state.

The clean energy, cleantech, renewable energy, battery energy storage systems (BESS) and compressed biogas (CBG) segments together account for proposed investments worth Rs 1.03 lakh crore.

“These investments will strengthen Maharashtra’s industrial ecosystem and create new opportunities for our youth,” he said.

Within the clean energy segment, Vikram Solar has proposed the largest investment at Rs 27,941 crore, followed by Hygenco at Rs 25,000 crore and Ocior Energy-Jakson Green at Rs 22,000 crore. Vedika Renewables has proposed Rs 8,571 crore, while Oriana Power has committed Rs 8,000 crore.

Other proposals include Rs 6,000 crore from Rayzon Solar, Rs 3,000 crore from Amatha Green Energy, Rs 1,080 crore from Solace Cogen and Rs 1,007 crore from Bondada Engineering. Nibe CNG and Ratnagiri CBG have each proposed investments of Rs 500 crore.

The proposals cover renewable power, solar energy, BESS, cleantech and CBG projects planned across Maharashtra.

Other sectors also attracted substantial investment interest. Data centres, IT/ITeS and semiconductors account for Rs 4.15 lakh crore, with major proposals from Akshat Greentech at Rs 1 lakh crore, Sterlite Group at Rs 84,500 crore, ReNew at Rs 70,000 crore, Cortex Data Centres at Rs 60,990 crore, Pi-Semicon at Rs 40,000 crore and Trentar Data Centres at Rs 30,000 crore.

Metals and mining attracted Rs 75,000 crore, while aerospace and defence received proposals worth Rs 27,930 crore. Electronics, healthcare and steel production accounted for Rs 12,651 crore, Rs 6,500 crore and Rs 7,000 crore, respectively.

Through ‘Invest Maharashtra’, the state plans to streamline coordination on land, electricity, infrastructure, approvals and skilled manpower to facilitate the proposed projects.
