Energy, Aviation & Urban Growth Drive Maharashtra’s Investment Push: Pranav Adani

Maharashtra’s latest investment drive is set to focus on sectors including energy, aviation, urban development and digital infrastructure, with Adani Group director Pranav Adani highlighting the state’s role in India’s broader economic expansion.

Speaking at the launch of the ‘Invest Maharashtra’ initiative in Mumbai on October 1, Adani said the new investment promotion mechanism could help translate investor interest into projects and strengthen the state’s contribution to national growth.

“I see this nodal investment promotion body as an engine designed to propel the vision of Viksit Maharashtra into actionable reality,” Adani said.

Maharashtra has set a target of becoming a one-trillion-dollar economy by 2030, with the Mumbai Metropolitan Region expected to be an important contributor to this expansion.

Adani said the Adani Group has outlined an investment plan exceeding ₹6 lakh crore across areas such as energy, aviation and aero-districts, urban regeneration, data centres and coal gasification. Projects worth around ₹2.6 lakh crore from these commitments have either been completed or are currently under execution.

“Maharashtra represents one of our country’s most remarkable economic powerhouses. When global and domestic enterprises look at this state, they see governance, connectivity, execution capability and boundless human potential,” he said.

Aviation and energy infrastructure were identified as major areas of development. Adani referred to both Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and Navi Mumbai International Airport, with the latter being developed as a greenfield facility for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and eventually expected to handle more than 90 million passengers annually.

He also highlighted the group’s renewable energy efforts in Mumbai, stating that more than 60 per cent of its power supply comes from renewable sources. A 1,000 MW high-voltage direct current transmission link is another initiative aimed at strengthening the city’s power network.

On urban regeneration, Adani said the Dharavi Redevelopment Project seeks to provide modern housing, safeguard micro-enterprises and develop an integrated economic hub.

“With the launch of ‘Invest Maharashtra’, the state is establishing a robust mechanism to convert investor intent into relentless on-ground execution,” Adani said.
