Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday launched ‘Invest Maharashtra’, a dedicated platform aimed at strengthening the state’s position as an investment destination in India and overseas while supporting its goal of achieving a USD 1 trillion economy by 2030.
Fadnavis said the state government would coordinate key requirements such as land, electricity, infrastructure, statutory approvals and skilled manpower for projects selected by investors. The administration, he added, would take a comprehensive approach to resolving requirements throughout the project lifecycle, including future expansion.
The platform’s identity, ‘Made for Business’, reflects the government’s emphasis on valuing investors’ time, taking responsibility for resolving issues and facilitating projects from investment decisions through implementation.
Fadnavis also stressed that large investments should create opportunities for local businesses, suppliers, young people and farmers. He urged major companies to include local enterprises in their supply chains and work with educational and training institutions to develop industry-relevant skills.
Investment proposals have emerged from several districts, including Chandrapur, Wardha, Nagpur, Gondia, Nashik, Jalgaon, Dhule, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Pune, Ahilyanagar, Ratnagiri and Palghar, besides the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The government said this geographic spread is intended to promote more balanced economic development across Maharashtra.
Fadnavis said the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority has completed the Existing Land Use (ELU) process for around 2,100 sq km as part of preparations for the planned development of Mumbai-3 and Mumbai-4. He described the exercise as the fastest ELU process completed in India.
The Chief Minister also highlighted initiatives such as Education City, Medicity and AI and Innovation City, aimed at connecting industry, skills, research, healthcare and technology.
He called on companies to contribute to water conservation in areas facing inadequate rainfall and encouraged the use of corporate research and engineering capabilities for efficient irrigation and wastewater recycling.
Industry Principal Secretary P Anbalagan said ‘Invest Maharashtra’ would combine investment promotion, facilitation, global partnerships, research, analysis and investor relationship management under one platform.
The initiative will also focus on sectors including global capability centres, gems and jewellery, AVGC, bamboo, bioplastics, electronics and semiconductors.
At the Maharashtra Investment Summit, 67 MoUs involving proposed investments of Rs 8,57,452 crore and 2,91,109 potential jobs were signed.
