AI Giant CoreWeave Eyes Navi Mumbai For Massive 240MW Mega Data Centre

US-based artificial intelligence infrastructure company CoreWeave is expanding into India with plans to develop 240MW of data centre capacity in Navi Mumbai, strengthening the region’s position as an emerging hub for large-scale digital infrastructure.

The company will partner with AdaniConneX, an India-focused data centre infrastructure provider, to build the facility at its Taloja campus. The development will comprise three buildings, each offering 80MW of capacity. NVIDIA’s Vera Rubin platform will power the computing infrastructure, while CoreWeave will also establish a regional office in India.

The first phase is expected to be completed by mid-2028. CoreWeave will retain the option to double the facility’s capacity in the future, depending on market demand.

“India has the talent, developers, and ambition to become a major center of AI innovation,” said Sachin Jain, Chief Operating Officer of CoreWeave. “We are investing in the infrastructure, technology, and local presence needed to support that growth, bringing 240 megawatts of capacity, NVIDIA Vera Rubin, and CoreWeave’s expertise to customers building and scaling AI in India.”

The Navi Mumbai project represents CoreWeave’s second major Asian expansion in recent months. In August, the company announced plans for 360MW of contracted IT power in Indonesia, with that facility also expected to become operational in 2028.

CoreWeave currently has 4.2GW of contracted power capacity, primarily across North America and Europe.

India’s data centre market is projected to expand significantly in the coming years. Wood Mackenzie estimates that national capacity could rise from 2.2GW in 2025 to 12GW by 2030.

“The convergence of hyperscale capital, AI workload growth, and a decade of policy support have created the conditions for India to rival any market in the Asia-Pacific,” said Souhardya Pal, Research Associate at Wood Mackenzie. “The question for developers and investors is no longer whether to enter India, but where and how.”

The expansion is expected to place India second in Asia for data centre capacity by 2030, although China is projected to remain far ahead with around 127GW. The US, meanwhile, is forecast to reach approximately 118GW.
