Bajel Projects Wins Tata Power Contract Worth Up To Rs 300 Crore For Mumbai Substations

Bajel Projects has received an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract from Tata Power Company valued between Rs 200 crore and Rs 300 crore for substation infrastructure in Mumbai. The order strengthens the company’s portfolio in the power transmission and distribution sector.

The contract covers the supply and installation of a 220-kilovolt (kV) gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) substation at the Salsette receiving station, along with a 220 kV outdoor GIS substation at the Powai receiving station.

According to the company, execution is scheduled to take 18 months from the date the purchase order is issued. The contract has been classified as a major order under Bajel Projects’ internal project classification policy, which includes Goods and Services Tax (GST).

The company defines orders valued between Rs 200 crore and Rs 300 crore as major contracts. The latest assignment concerns domestic substation works and falls within its regular business operations.

In its regulatory disclosure, Bajel Projects stated that neither its promoters, promoter group nor group companies have any interest in Tata Power, the entity awarding the contract.

Follows Transmission Line Order Exceeding Rs 600 Crore

The Mumbai substation contract comes after Bajel Projects secured another significant assignment in August, valued at more than Rs 600 crore. That order relates to the WR-ER Inter-Regional Network Expansion Scheme – Part A.

The package, designated TL05, involves constructing 765 kV double-circuit transmission lines linking Raigarh (Tamnar), Raigarh (Kotra) and Dharamjaygarh in Chhattisgarh.

Together, the recent contracts broaden Bajel Projects’ involvement in high-voltage transmission networks and substation infrastructure. While the earlier order focuses on inter-regional electricity transmission, the latest contract adds to the company’s work in Mumbai’s urban power network.

The new assignment will support the development of receiving-station infrastructure at Salsette and Powai. Such facilities form an important part of the electricity network, helping manage power supply and distribution in a major metropolitan area.

With the latest order, Bajel Projects continues to expand its project pipeline across transmission and distribution infrastructure, covering both large-scale transmission links and substations serving urban electricity networks.
