Dindoshi–Film City Flyover Set To Boost Mumbai’s East-West Connectivity

Dindoshi–Film City flyover

Mumbai’s road connectivity received a boost on October 22, 2026, with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis virtually inaugurating the 1.26-kilometre Dindoshi–Film City flyover in Goregaon East. The six-lane structure forms part of Phase 1 of the Goregaon–Mulund Link Road (GMLR) project, aimed at improving travel across the city.

The flyover connects General Arun Kumar Vaidya Marg with Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari Road near Santosh Nagar, creating an additional route for motorists travelling through the western suburbs.

Improving Daily Commutes

The new infrastructure is expected to ease traffic congestion along a busy corridor and improve road access between Mumbai’s western and eastern neighbourhoods. By streamlining vehicle movement, the flyover could help reduce travel times for commuters and improve access to employment centres, commercial areas and residential hubs.

The project also supports Mumbai’s wider objective of developing more efficient transport links as the city continues to expand. Better road connectivity can benefit residents and businesses by making journeys across different parts of the metropolitan region more convenient.

Potential Impact on Property Markets

Improved connectivity often influences homebuyers’ location preferences and can increase interest in neighbourhoods with easier access to workplaces. The wider GMLR project is expected to improve links between areas such as Goregaon, Andheri and Jogeshwari in the western suburbs and Mulund, Bhandup and Vikhroli in the east.

Arshad Lashkaria, CEO and Managing Director of Lashkaria Group, highlighted the importance of connectivity in home-buying decisions. Better east–west travel, he noted, gives residents greater flexibility when selecting homes while balancing commuting needs with access to established social infrastructure.

Businesses may also benefit from improved access to a wider workforce across the suburbs.

Looking Ahead

The Dindoshi–Film City flyover is one component of the larger GMLR initiative, which includes planned tunnels and additional road links between Goregaon and Mulund. Once further sections are completed, the project is expected to provide more direct travel options and help address congestion on existing routes.

The flyover’s opening marks another step towards improving Mumbai’s road network. Its longer-term impact on commuting patterns and nearby property markets will depend on the progress of the wider project and how effectively the new infrastructure improves everyday travel.
