Several parts of Navi Mumbai and neighbouring CIDCO-developed areas will experience a 10-hour water supply shutdown on Tuesday, November 3, as the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) carries out maintenance and infrastructure upgrades along the Morbe water supply network.
The scheduled interruption will take place between 10 am and 8 pm, affecting evening water supply across seven NMMC civic zones, as well as Kharghar and Kamothe. The work involves installing new valves and flow meters at multiple locations in Sanpada, Vashi, Belapur and Shiravane.
The affected NMMC areas include Belapur, Nerul, Vashi, Turbhe-Sanpada, Koparkhairane, Ghansoli and Airoli. In the adjoining CIDCO areas, residents of Kharghar and Kamothe will also face the disruption.
The maintenance programme includes fitting a 400 mm butterfly valve near Moraj Circle in Sanpada and a 250 mm sluice valve near Samana Press in Sector 30. Another 250 mm sluice valve will be installed near Satara Plaza at Vashi’s APMC Market, while a 700 mm butterfly valve is planned for Sector 29.
Additional work includes installing a 700 mm inlet butterfly valve at the Belapur Sector 28 pumphouse and a 900 mm butterfly valve at Killa Junction in Sector 15. Four flow meters will also be fitted along the distribution channel connected to the 800 mm main pipeline near Shiravane village.
These upgrades are intended to improve pipeline functioning, regulate water flow and strengthen monitoring of the distribution network.
The disruption could also affect supply on the following day. NMMC has indicated that water will be available at reduced pressure on Wednesday morning, November 4.
The civic body has urged residents to store adequate water beforehand and use available supplies carefully. Citizens have also been requested to cooperate with the administration while the essential maintenance work is completed.
