The civic authority in Mumbai has ordered an inquiry into the legality of 49 film studios in Madh, Marve, Erangal, Bhati, and Malad regions. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) order came after it received multiple complaints saying that the studios were built in the No-Development Zone (NDZ) and Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) without proper permission. The majority of the studios are newly-built ones between 2021 and 2022.
