In a major relief to a large number of real estate projects stuck for long as the state authority has been deferring pleas for environmental clearance (EC) citing a 2022 National Green Tribunal (NGT) order
The Bombay high court on Friday directed the State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA) to decide such requests on merit within eight weeks. There are around 400 affected projects in Mumbai alone, said Sandeep Runwal, president of NAREDCO. “The HC order is important as projects were stuck not just in Mumbai, but in Pune, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Nashik as well.”
