Of the nine metro corridors for which work is underway in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), two are expected to open by 2024, five by 2025 and another 2 by 2026. About 185 km length of metro work is being done in MMR, out of which 32.5 km Metro 3 underground corridor is executed by MMRC and the remaining by MMRDA, reports stated
According to State Economic Survey, Metro 3 is the earliest corridor to open by 2023-24 as 79 per cent work on the project has been completed. MMRC plans to open the line in two phases, Aarey-BKC in December 2023 and BKC-Cuffe Parade in July 2024. Meanwhile, another project whose work is in an advanced stage is the Metro 6 route that will connect Swami Samarth Nagar to Vikhroli. MMRDA has achieved 63 per cent of its targeted works
