Bridge to be built over Dahisar river; relief for housing society & slum

The long-standing demand of residents of River Valley Road and nearby areas in Dahisar (W) is finally being met. The BMC will construct a 50m-long and 18m-wide bridge across Dahisar river connecting River Valley Road to Rangnath Keskar Road. The bridge, which will be constructed at a cost of Rs 21 crore, is expected to be ready in 18 months, said sources.

“For the last 25 years, the residents of 13 buildings in River Valley Colony and 800-900 families in Panchsheel Nagar slums have been demanding the DP Road and bridge as they were suffering due to lack of connectivity,” said Swapnil Jadhav, secretary of River Valley Colony Residents’ Welfare Association. “If residents have to go to Dahisar or Borivli railway station, the markets there, or the nearby schools, people have to go all the way to the bridge near Shree Shanti Nagar. Earlier, we would use the Dahisar bridge. Besides, one side of the River Valley Road is a dead end, compounding the problem of the residents.”
