BMC seeks joint teams with MHADA to inspect unauthorised construction

After complaints of unauthorised constructions, being done, while carrying out repairs in cessed buildings were highlighted, the BMC has asked MHADA to constitute joint teams of MHADA and BMC officials to carry out inspection of the unauthorised construction.

According to BMC officials, permission for repairs is given by MHADA, therefore, the teams inspecting the unauthorized construction should have officials of both agencies.”There are complaints about unauthorised construction being carried out internally and externally, while carrying out repairs in cessed buildings and complaints are made with BMC. However, permissions for carrying out repairs are given by MHADA, and the BMC has no role in that. So, when the BMC staffers go to check on the unauthorised construction after receiving complaints. Those carrying out the repairs claim that they have received permission from MHADA to carry out the repairs. Therefore, there is a need for better coordination between BMC and MHADA,” said a BMC official. MHADA has the authority to grant permissions to carry out repairs in cessed buildings.
