MSRTC has floated tenders to invite bids from developers for the redevelopment of Borivli bus depot (Nancy colony) in Mumbai, sources informed on Sunday.
“At Borivli we are inviting bids for the construction of a 16-storeyed building, of which the ground plus three floors will be MSRTC offices for which we do not have to make any investment. From the fourth floor onwards (till 16th), the developer will be given construction rights,” an official said. The agreement for development will be signed under Build-Operate-Transfer basis for a 30 year period, added the official. The ground floor of the depot and a majority of the plot will be used for bus parking and bus maintenance purposes which the developer will create for MSRTC’s smooth functioning, the official said. Sources said MSRTC will open up similar land parcels for redevelopment in other parts of the state as well — where it will also provide development rights to the leaseholders.
