The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) will be constructing two metro depots in the Thane district, informed the official. The MMRDA has achieved a significant milestone in the expansion of its metro network by obtaining possession of crucial lands for the construction of two vital metro depots.
“For Metro Line 12, which is set to connect Kalyan and Taloja, the government has transferred a total of 47 hectares of land located at Niljepada in Thane district to MMRDA. The Advance possession land was granted to MMRDA, marking a crucial step in the development of this metro route,” the press statement from MMRDA reads. “In addition, advanced possession of 59.65 hectares of land at Dongri Village (Bhayander West) has been received for the development of Metro Route 9 and 7A. This strategic move further enhances the metro network’s reach within Thane district, benefiting the citizens with world-class transportation options,” added the statement.
