MMRDA, BEST begin process to launch integrated mobile app

Mumbai is working on a common mobility app that will integrate metro train and bus schedules and allow users to book tickets. The app, set to be released by the end of monsoon, will benefit around 30-32 lakh daily commuters who use the bus service and 5-6 lakh who use the metro. However, the service may not be available to the 68-70 lakh daily commuters using the suburban rail network due to conflict between Indian Railways and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority over ticket fares.

Journey on different modes of public transport may soon become seamless with the introduction of a common mobility app to check metro train and bus schedules and book tickets. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking have begun the process of integrating their mobile apps to create the common app that is likely to be released by the end of monsoon.
