MMRDA seeks Rs 20,000cr loans to fund infra projects in Mumbai region, ET Infra

Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has initiated steps to seek loans totalling Rs 20,000 crore to finance various infrastructure projects planned across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.MMRDA has earmarked an expenditure of Rs 28,705 crore for multiple infrastructure projects, including the Metro corridors, Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, Versova-Vasai Sea Bridge and the underground road between the Eastern Freeway and Marine Drive, among others, in the current financial year of 2023-24.

MMRDA is cash-strapped as it intends to spend an enormous amount on projects in this decade, said officials. Government sources said, “SBI Capital Markets has been mandated to invite an expression of interest (EOI) from lenders to provide a rupee debt for MMRDA.” SBI Capital will receive 0.25% of the amount as fund-raising fee.
