In an effort to improve compliance and transparency in the real estate sector, the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has mandated that all registered real estate agents in the state obtain a MahaRERA Real Estate Agent Certificate of Competency. This initiative aims to ensure that agents are well-versed in the provisions of the RERA Act and are equipped to fulfill their responsibilities effectively.
To obtain the certificate, agents are required to pass an online examination conducted by MahaRERA. The examination covers various aspects of the real estate trade, including verifying promoter identities and project details, accessing legal titles of properties, calculating the RERA carpet area, and understanding building approvals. Only agents who have obtained this certificate will be allowed to operate in development havens such as Mahalaxmi, Mumbai, and others in the state.
