Second Tunnel Boring Machine starts working for Metro 7A

Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has begun work on the second Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) of Line 7A which will connect Andheri (East) to CSMI Airport, further expanding the operational Red Line M7 (Andheri (E) to Dahisar (E). The 7A corridor runs partially elevated and parallel to Western Express Highway (WEH) and Sahar elevated road.

A MMRDA official said, “The second Tunnel Boring Machine, T-60, has started working on Metro Line 7A, which will connect Bhayander to the International Airport. “The initial drive of the TBM is estimated to be finished within a month, and the final drive is expected to be completed by June 2024. The entire tunneling project is anticipated to be finished by 2024. The tunnelling work is carried out at a depth of 12 m to 28 m.
