The Mumbai Coastal Road Project (MCRP) will likely be operational only for 12-hours during the weekdays and cater to just south bound traffic once it becomes operational from the first week of February. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Sunday said that the ongoing construction work for the MCRP will be completed by January 31, following which the high-speed corridor will be opened for vehicles.
Meanwhile, civic officials have said that the MCRP will be operational only during the day to facilitate the peak hour traffic. Shinde also said that the entire corridor will be completely operational from May 2024. “The plan is to make the road available for traffic from 8 am and 8 pm between Monday and Friday. A significant percentage of the balance work is left, which we plan to carry out during the night time and on weekends when traffic will not be there,” said an official privy to the development.
