On Wednesday, May 29, 2024, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), the country’s first 100% landlord and leading container port, celebrated 35 years of operational success with a lavish ceremony. With the theme “Port of Prosperity,” the celebration honoured JNPA’s outstanding accomplishments and expansion while acknowledging its crucial role in India’s maritime sector.
India’s port operations have undergone constant transformation, led by JNPA. It began operations in 1989 and has expanded to become India’s biggest container port. In the fiscal year 2023–2024, the port recorded its highest-ever throughput of 6.43 million TEUs, marking a historic milestone.
