In Juhu Vile Parle, on June 14, 2024, the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) moved quickly to remove an unauthorized hoarding from the Shubh Jeevan Cooperative Housing Society. This hoarding was constructed without MHADA’s necessary NOC. This project is a reaction to the sad events that occurred in Ghatkopar and to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s orders to remove unlawful hoardings from Mumbai.
Sanjeev Jaiswal, the vice president and chief executive officer of MHADA, carried out a comprehensive inspection and survey of hoardings on MHADA premises in response to the chief minister’s order to demolish all unapproved hoardings. Sixty of the 62 hoardings that were surveyed have been installed without the required No Objection Certificate (NOC) from MHADA. These were installed without MHADA’s consent, although having the approval of BMC, necessitating an urgent correction.
