BMC Resolves Defence Land Issue for SCLR Project with Rs 11 Crore Payment

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has resolved the issue of acquiring defence land for the Santacruz Chembur Link Road (SCLR) project by agreeing to pay Rs 11 crore to the Ministry of Defence (MoD).

This agreement will expedite the expansion of the Vakola Nullah bridge from two lanes to four, a critical component of Phase 1 of the SCLR Extension project, which had been delayed due to the need for defence land. According to a source from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), which is overseeing the project, the BMC has already started the disbursement process. Officials now expect Phase 1 to be completed by September.
