“No Structural Defects”: MMRDA Responds to Maharashtra Congress Chief Nana Patole’s Claims of Cracks on Atal Setu

On Friday, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) clarified that the minor cracks found are on the approach road connecting to Atal Setu in Ulwe, not on the bridge itself. MMRDA assured that these cracks do not indicate any structural defects and pose no threat to the bridge. Labeling reports of cracks on the bridge as “rumors,” MMRDA urged citizens not to believe them.

“There have been rumors circulating about cracks on the MTHL bridge. We want to clarify that these cracks are not on the bridge itself but on the approach road connecting MTHL from Ulwe towards Mumbai. During an inspection by the Operation and Maintenance team on June 20, 2024, minor cracks were found on the road surface near the edges at three locations on Ramp 5 (the ramp towards Mumbai). These cracks are minor and located along the edge of the road,” MMRDA wrote on X.
