The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has requested police protection for the demolition of unauthorized construction at Kamala Mills in Lower Parel. Previously, in March, the civic body had demolished part of an unauthorized structure on the same premises following a notice about the change of land use from a recreation ground to a parking lot.
This action was prompted by a complaint from activist-lawyer and former postal service officer Abha Singh, who reported that 3,719 square meters of land designated as a recreation ground in the approved plan had been converted into a parking lot without proper permission.
