MMRDA Addresses Concerns About Cracks on Mumbai Trans Harbour Link Approach Road

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has responded to recent worries about cracks on the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) bridge. According to the MMRDA, these cracks are not on the main bridge but on a section of the approach road connecting MTHL from Ulwe to Mumbai.

During a routine inspection on June 20, 2024, the MMRDA’s Operation and Maintenance team found minor cracks in the asphalt surface of the approach road. These cracks were observed at three specific points near the edges of Ramp 5, which links Ulwe in Navi Mumbai to Mumbai.

The MMRDA reassures the public that these cracks are superficial and do not affect the structural integrity of the MTHL bridge. They are identified as minor longitudinal cracks in the asphalt pavement, a common issue that can be easily repaired.
