The construction of a 120-acre central public park at Mumbai’s Mahalaxmi Race Course has received approval from the Maharashtra government. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde presided over a weekly cabinet meeting where this decision was reached. International standards will be followed in the development of the park, and no new building will be permitted there.
Ninety-one acres of the Race Course’s 211 acres will be leased to the Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) for a period of thirty years, beginning on June 1, 2023, and ending on May 30, 2053. This lease may be further extended at the cabinet’s discretion. This track is well-known for staging horse races by RWITC.
