The development of Mumbai Central Public Park in India’s financial capital is picking up pace. Spanning 300 acres, the project will incorporate 120 acres from the Mahalaxmi Racecourse and around 175 acres from the Mumbai Coastal Road Project.
The aim is to transform this green space into a park reminiscent of London’s Hyde Park and New York’s Central Park. The Maharashtra government has agreed to renew the lease for 91 acres to the Royal Western India Turf Club Ltd (RWITC) from the 211-acre Mahalaxmi Racecourse, with the remaining 120 acres allocated to the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
