Residents Of Mulund, Kurla, And Dharavi Unite To Demand Clarity Regarding Dharavi Redevelopment

The formation of a unified organization to demand clarification on the project has been declared by residents of Mulund, Kurla, Dharavi, and other parts of the city impacted by the Dharavi redevelopment program and the projected Project Affected Persons (PAP) colony in Mulund. Mumbai Bachao Samiti, an organisation, has threatened to call a public gathering of residents from these neighbourhoods should the government fail to respond to questions about the project during this assembly session.

At a gathering on Saturday in Mulund, where locals have been protesting the construction of a PAP colony with 7500 homes, the association’s establishment was declared. The colony is intended to house Dharavi households who are not eligible for homes there in addition to hosting those uprooted by citywide development initiatives. Mulund locals have expressed concern that the infrastructure in the region would not be able to handle the increase in population.
