BMC Commissioner is directed by the Bombay High Court to examine the incorrect realignment of Kandivali DP Road

On Tuesday, the commissioner of the BMC was ordered by the Bombay High Court  to resolve a petition about the improper realignment of the development plan (DP) route linking Lokhandwala Township Circle in Kandivali and Kandivali East. The section is a part of the Magathane (Dahisar) to Goregaon road expansion project, which was designated as a “vital infrastructure project” in August 2022.

Shirish Shetty and five other Kandivali homeowners filed a case with the high court pointing out the road’s incorrect alignment and arguing that it did not follow the development plan. In order to give effect to the development scheme, the appeal asked for the construction of the DP Road and the clearance of encroachment from Singh Estate in Kandivali East. More than 300 hutments are said to be impeding the road expansion project’s implementation.
