In a letter to the Urban Development Department (UDD), the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) requested that 50% of the money raised for the Vital Urban Transport Project (VUTP) be set aside for the BMC’s own initiatives.
Speaking on the condition of anonymity, a senior civic official disclosed that a letter had been sent to the UDD requesting authorization to use half of the VUTP funds for significant projects like the Goregaon Mulund Link Road, which has an estimated budget of Rs 12,000 crore, and the Coastal Road, which has a budget exceeding Rs 24,000 crore.
