The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) has saw an expansion of two additional metro train lines. The second phase of the two metro lines, 5 and 9, which will run in the eastern and western regions of the MMR, will be enhanced thanks to the efforts of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).
Five significant project decisions were reportedly made by the MMRDA executive committee on July 24. The appointment of a contractor for the design, supply, fabrication of steel structures, and architectural finishing work for six stations of Metro-5—Balkum, Kasheli, Kalher, Purna, Anjurphata, and Dhamankar Naka—as well as the construction of a depot for Metro-9—has been approved by the MMRDA’s planning and implementing agency. The stations total 11.8 km in length.
