Santacruz-Chembur Link Road’s Contractor fined Rs 50 Lakh due to Potholes in the Road

The Santacruz-Chembur Link Road (SCLR) extension project’s BKC-LBS Marg flyover arm has enormous potholes. Two days after this paper published photos of these potholes, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) fined contractor J Kumar Infraprojects Rs 50 lakh in addition to an additional Rs 10 lakh for each day the flyover arm was closed for pothole repairs.

The terrible state of the flyover arm and the pressing need for maintenance and repairs were brought to light by the images that were published in TOI on Tuesday.

According to sources, MMRDA has taken disciplinary action against the contractor in addition to sending notifications to the project consultants PADECO. A show-cause notice has also been given to an MMRDA deputy engineer.
