The redeveloped are will consists of dispensaries, public gardens, community halls and recreational areas and this developed area will be resettling around 68,000 people including slum dwellers.
Dharavi redevelopment project survey had started from Kamla Raman Nagar which is near Matunga Road station with a unique number allotted to each tenement. This was done through Laser mapping (also known as Lidar survey) for the respective lanes. From the 30 teams working on this survey, each team visited different houses to scan the documents properly.
As per the sources, the project’s ‘key-to-key’ promise is to provide keys to the new homes without being sent to transit camps to most of the residents. Recently, local residents showed their increased support towards the survey by driving out workers of an organisation who were blocking the survey to take place.
