MMRDA: Constructing a pedestrian bridge to connect Western Expressway to Akurli station

To make travel more safer and easier for commuters, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has planned to construct a pedestrian bridge which will connect the South-North section of the Western Expressway with Akurli Metro Station on Dahisar-Gundavali Metro 7.

Mumbai Metro 7 line is 16.5 km long and has 13 metro stations. A large number of commuters travel on this route every day. At present there is no pedestrian bridge connecting the western expressway due to which commuters have to take a long detour to come and go in the south-north section. The tender for the construction of the first bridge connecting the Western Expressway to the Akurli Metro station has already been passed. The estimated cost of this first bridge is Rs 40 crores and will be completed in around 18 months.

MMRDA have decided to construct 14 more pedestrian bridges on this route. These bridges will be constructed in phases and the estimated cost of construction will be Rs 210 crores.
