Locating a site for the reconstruction of Dharavi is proving to be challenging. The plan to construct homes on Wadala Salt Pan has not received approval from the central government.
According to the official, Wadala Salt Pan was mentioned in a letter that was addressed to the central government regarding the Dharavi Redevelopment Project. However, permission to rehabilitate persons at this location was denied.
The official added, that it was stated that DRPPL has not yet bought that site either. Let us inform you that Dharavi redevelopment is a highly debated topic in Mumbai. On this topic, the opposition and the ruling party are taking the initiative.
On the other hand, the survey of roughly 10,000 Dharavi homes has finished. Following the completion of the survey, qualified individuals will receive houses, and those who are not eligible will also receive houses by paying a certain sum.
