The Amrit Bharat Station Development Plan now includes the stations at Dahisar and Kandivali on Western Railway’s Mumbai division, for a total of eleven suburban stations. On Tuesday, the Railway Board released the notification regarding the same.
Western Railway’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Vineet Abhishek, confirmed the inclusion and announced that bids to hire a consultant will shortly be released. For the redevelopment, the consultant will create design and architectural designs as well as cost estimates.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s flagship Amrit Bharat Station Development Plan is to modernize stations for improved passenger flow and include amenities like shops and commercial areas to increase non-fare revenue. In order to unite the city’s fragmented districts and improve infrastructure, the project also aims to incorporate stations as city centers.
