By December 2026, the Mumbai Metro Line 7A extension, the third line directly serving Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, is expected to be completed. This MMRDA-led project aims to transform airport connections.
Metro Line 7A is expanding the current Metro Line 7, which connects Andheri (East) to Dahisar (East), with a 3.423-kilometer extension. This blend of elevated and underground sections will link Andheri (East) directly to CSMIA, cutting airport travel time by up to 60 minutes. Integration with Metro Line 3 and the upcoming Line 8 will enhance citywide transportation connectivity.
In addition to improving connection and cutting down on travel times, Metro Line 7A should have a good environmental impact. Mumbai residents will breathe cleaner air thanks to the project’s encouragement of a car-less lifestyle, which will reduce fuel use and CO2 emissions. It is also expected that the project will provide the city with significant economic benefits.
