Aditya Thackeray, a Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA, stated on Sunday that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) will provide 500 square feet of housing to each and every qualified Dharavi in-situ inhabitant upon taking office in November.
Speaking on Sunday at the “Dharavi Bachao, Mumbai Bachao” protest in Dharavi, Thackeray declared, “Once the Maha Vikas Aghadi government takes office in November, we will provide 500-square-foot homes for everyone.” It’s my word on this. I want everyone to be able to apply for the same. We’ll also consider allowing residents of slums on higher floors to apply for reconstruction.
The MVA is against the survey that Adani Realty, the company that is renovating Dharavi, has conducted. The Sena UBT MLA appealed to the residents of Dharavi to support MVA since it would provide them with housing in their current neighborhoods rather than on saltpan lands, saying, “The East India Company was trying to divide and rule. The current administration is using Adani in a similar manner. We only want to live in Dharavi, where we belong. We shouldn’t be relocated to another location.
He claimed that Adani would receive about 20 1,062-acre plots in Mumbai in order to rehabilitate 300 acres of Dharavi. “We oppose neither Adani nor any one person. We oppose anyone attempting to plunder Mumbai. Mumbai will now be offered to an industrialist from Gujarat since it cannot be moved to Gujarat.
