Under the Prime Minister’s Grant Project (PMGP), the state government has approved Rs 150 crore for the renovation of 66 buildings in the island city that were constructed in the 1980s.
The state housing department stated in a government decision released on Thursday that Rs 12.5 crore would be used to repair four buildings in the C Ward and that the other Rs 137.5 crore would be used to restore the remaining 62 buildings.
Amin Patel, a Congress MLA, stated that the rehabilitation of these buildings was authorized by then-CM Prithviraj Chavan in 2014. The answer to these aging and decaying buildings is renovation. Along with twelve other buildings, we are redeveloping eight PMGP buildings in Umerkhadi as a cluster. The tenement is 180 square feet at the moment. The houses will be 500 square feet for the residents,” he stated.
