Mumbai Metro Line 11: Eleven Companies are bidding for the Geotechnical Soil Investigation of 18-kilometer underground route from Anik Bus Depot to SPM Circle

For the 18-kilometer Mumbai Metro Line-11 (Green Line), which would connect Anik Bus Depot and Shyamaprasad Mukherjee Chowk via 15 subterranean stations, a total of 11 businesses have submitted bids to conduct geotechnical soil investigations. Earlier this year, the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (MMRC) revised the Line-11 and changed its alignment. After Line-3 (Aqua Line) and Line-7A (Red Line), it will be Mumbai’s third subterranean line.

For this contract, MMRC issued an invitation to bid in August with a ninety-day deadline; the technical bids were opened this past Friday.

“Geotechnical investigation work for Metro 11 has not yet begun because the agency has not yet been assigned. Technical review is underway, and tenders have been invited. By the end of September 2024, we hope to submit the completed Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Metro 11 to the state government for clearance, according to a top MMRCL official.

In accordance with the tender’s terms and conditions, 500-meter intervals will be used to drill 150-mm boreholes along the twin tunnel alignment. At every station location, three boreholes will also be drilled. The fundamental consultant design states that these boreholes will be between 10 and more meters deep.

The geotechnical survey report will include information about borehole locations and details with georeferenced coordinates, the area’s geological features, the water table levels, test results, recommendations for foundations based on data from boreholes, cut-off values, soil bearing capacities, seismicity, etc.
