Five Are Arrested Following the Death of Three Workers at a Mumbai Construction Site

Three workers died on Thursday at a building site in Malad as a result of a slab collapsing, and five persons—including the contractor—have been charged, according to the police. Three other people were critically hurt in the incident, which happened at a Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) building that was still under construction.

In accordance with Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 106(1) and 125(a) and 125(b), the Dindoshi police filed a complaint. Officials said that as of Friday morning, no one had been taken into custody.

The event took place at the Govind Nagar location of the Navjeevan building in Malad East at approximately 12:09 p.m. Routine concreting work resulted in a section of the 20th floor slab of the 23-story skyscraper caving down. Six employees who were working on various floors below were crushed when the slab collapsed.

Four workers, as well as a sizable quantity of slurry and concrete debris, fell, according to the authorities. More workers were hurt as the falling debris struck them from below. Three of the victims were pronounced dead at Malad’s M W Desai Hospital after they were sent there right away.

Gopal Banika Modi, 32; Sohan Jachil Rothe, 26; and Vinod Keshav Sadar, 26 are the names of the deceased. According to authorities, the injured people are Mohammad Kalamuddin Shaikh, 30, Rupsan Mamin, 30, and Jalil Rahim Shaikh, 45.

To ascertain the reason behind the fall, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials have launched an investigation. The accident has brought up important questions concerning safety procedures at city building sites.
