Piyush Goyal, a Mumbai North MP and union minister, officially opened the Akurli Bridge on Tuesday. This bridge is a crucial link in the western suburbs that connects Kandivali with the Western Express Highway (WEH).
Authorities started working on this bridge’s construction in 2019. However, Goyal gave the authorities instructions to complete the building work in a month during a meeting last month, which accelerated the civil activities.
This bridge is a gift from Ganesh Chaturthi to the whole city of Mumbai, not only North Mumbai. Mumbai residents will experience a great deal of relief with the bridge’s opening because it will end the traffic bottleneck on the motorway. The people will gain from the inauguration in two ways: they will save time and petrol, according to Goyal.
After his initial meeting at Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on August 14, the work was finished in less than 30 days. In addition to two car carriageways, the bridge also features a traffic median and walkways. In addition, the union minister had pushed for the traffic department to provide NOCs for vehicle movement as quickly as possible.
